Telugu star Raja joins Congress

Hyderabad, Jan 26: Young Telugu film actor Raja has decided to join the Congress. He said he will campaign for the Congress; The ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh has got a boost with Raja joing the Congress.

"Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy is a man with vision. His service to mankind is what basically attracted me towards him and also the Congress," Raja, who joined the party in the presence of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday, said.

However, he assured that he would not contest to elections. But he would campaign for the party. He hails from port city Vishakapatnam. Raja fame into shot with is hit 'Anand'.
Congress govt's welfare schemes, particularly in health care and education drew him towards the party, the actor added.

"I am basically interested in taking up social work, particularly activities related to girl child education and health care. I hope the government will support me in my endeavours," the 30-year old Raja said.

"A scheme like Arogya Sri health insurance is a real boon to the people, particularly the poor who cannot otherwise afford costly treatment in corporate hospitals. Thanks to the scheme, many lives are being saved," he said.
