JK: Army foils inflitration bid in Kanachak

Indian Army patrolling in Kanachak Border
Srinagar, Jan 25: Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Army on Sunday, Jan 25 foiled an infiltration bid along the International Border (IB) in Kanachak area of Jammu Kashmir. They fired 4 terrorists who tried to infiltrate at around 2.30 am.

Reports suggest that the Indian troops noticed a group of militants trying to enter Indian side. Soon heavy firing started along the border between both sides. Following the firing, militants fled back to the Pakistani side. This infiltration bid is the second one in this month. Just a fortnight ago Army had a fierce encounter with the militants holed up in Mendhar of Jammu Kashmir. The encounter which lasted 8 days claimed the lives of 4 militants and three security personal including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO).

Six people held hostage in Jammu

Just in: One hostage is believed to have been rescued so far. Heavy firing is still going on. 11:07 AM 8/27/2008 Srinagar, Aug 27: At least five people including a Junior Commissioned Officer have been killed in the ongoing gun battle between militants and the security forces in Jammu's Bantalab area. Two civilians have been injured and the terrorists - holed up in the Chinore residential locality in Bantalab.....
