Sena-BKS workers vandalise Mumbai hotel

Mumbai, Jan 21: In protest of sacking at least 21 employees, over 300 workers of the BharatiyaKamgar Sena (BKS), the Shiv Sena's labour wing on Wednesday, Jan 21 vandalised the Hotel Intercontinental Grand. Suryakant Mahadik, the BKS President said that the hotel sacked the employees as they were trying to form labour union with affiliation to party.

Mahadik said, "When the workers persisted in their efforts to unite the hotel employees under the BKS flag, they were sacked without any notice or compensation six months ago." 300 BKS workers under the leadership of Mahadik, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut and Legislator Anil Parab marched to the hotel to protest against this 'anti-labour policies.'

When asked about the BKS workers destroying the Hotel properties, Mahadik said, "the hotel management provoked my workers into causing damage in the premises. The police baton charged us but we are used to police caning," he added.

The hotel which is situated just two kms away from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is a favourite among the business travellers.

Mahadik warned that if the Hotel fails to take back the sacked employees, a BKS union will be formed and the group will 'take further steps.'

M'shtra: After civic polls, Sena eyes the State
