IAF airplane crashes in Bidar; pilot dies

Just In: Surya Kiran pilots seemed to be most skilled and best pilots. Bird hit seems to be the reason for crash, a probe has been ordered. This is the first IAF aircrash incident in 2009. Crash occured during low level pass. Pilot n has been identified as R S Dhaliwal.

Bidar, Jan 21: In a heartrending incident, a trainee pilot lost his life when the airplane crashed during his training programme in Bidar, Karnataka on Wednesday, Jan 21.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) plane , Surya Kirana crashed just outside the Bidar Air Force Training Center. Air Force official visited the spot of accident. More details are awaited.

Defence Minister inducts Hawk-132 into IAF

Bidar (Karnataka), Feb 23: Defence Minister A K Antony today inducted Hawk-132 Advanced Jet Trainers (AJTs) into the Indian Air Force, saying the changed global scenario is forcing India to reorient its defence forces and in the process go for continuous upgradation of man and machine. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Antony said a long cherished dream of the IAF had been fulfilled. ''This will go a long way in training our budding pilots. Hawk-132 will fill the gap in pilot.....
