Kayani tells Miliband Pakistan wants peace but ready for war with India if necessary

Islamabad, Jan.17 (ANI): British Foreign Secretary David Miliband met Pakistan Army Chief General.Ashfaque Pervaiz Kayani to discuss the ongoing India-Pakistan tension in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks, and the steps taken by Pakistan in the 'war against terror' in the region.

According to The News, the Pak army chief assured Miliband that Pakistan does not want any military confrontation with its neighbour India, and is desirous of peace and prosperity in the whole region, while adding that the country's army was ready to meet any threat to its security.

Miliband during the meeting, said that Pakistan and India should refrain from war talks and ensure peace in the region.He said that situation arising after the Mumbai terror attacks has made relations between the two countries volatile, but the matter should be ought out by talks.

"War is not in the interest of any one, Pakistan and India should opt for dialogues," he said.

However, Kayani made it clear that Pakistan would not compromise on the security of the country.

"Pakistan Army is ready to meet all eventualities," he said. (ANI)
