Police say retrieving Indian Australian's body from ice glacier will take time

South Island(New Zealand), Jan.12 (ANI): Police said on Monday that there was little hope of an early recovery of the body of the second Indian Australian climber, who was crushed to death along with his brother under an ice fall at Fox Glacier.

The body of Ashish Miranda, a 24-year-old Boeing aerospace engineer, was recovered shortly after the fall last Thursday, but the search for his brother, Akshay Miranda, a 22-year-old student, was halted because of dangerous conditions, reports the New Zealand Press Association.

More than 100 tonnes of ice was believed to have fallen on the men, who crossed safety barriers at the terminal face to take photos.

Police had been hoping the flow of water from the glacier would carry the body out to a safe area for recovery.

With fine weather forecast, the body was likely to remain trapped for the rest of the week,

The brothers' parents, Ronald and Winnie Miranda, left Fox Glacier for Christchurch on Saturday to return to Melbourne with Ashish's body. (ANI)
