Nawaz, Imran mull new alliance for reinstatement of deposed judges

Lahore, Jan 12 (ANI): Former cricketer and chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, has called on the PML-N chairman Nawaz Sharif here at the latters' residence at Raiwind to discuss the possibility of a new alliance on a one-point agenda of the reinstatement of deposed judges.

Both leaders on Sunday agreed to convene a national conference on the issue, The Nation reported.

Sharif stressed upon repealing 17th Amendment to ensure balance of power among state institutions, assuring that the PML-N would actively participate in the lawyers' long march for reinstating the deposed judges.

Imran Khan told reporters that huge number of political workers would gather on the Constitutional Avenue on March 9 to support the reinstatement of deposed judges.

He said that movement for the restoration of deposed judges was not of lawyers only but also that of the entire nation.

Khan expressed the hope that over one million people would participate in the long march, and added that the issue of formation of new political alliance on one point agenda of independence of judiciary and restoration of deposed judges was discussed with Nawaz Sharif.

Khan said the current set up was merely a change of faces and a continuation of previous set up. He said that national conference would be convened soon for restoration of democracy and judiciary. (ANI)
