Manyata if not Sanjay Dutt: SP

Manyata if not Sanjay Dutt: SP
Mumbai Jan 11: Samajwadi party general secretary Amar Singh is always in news for some reasons. On Jan 8, Amar Singh had announced that actor Sanjay Dutt will contest for LokSabha elections from Samajwadi party.

Now he is of the opinion that if Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is not qualified to contest the Lok Sabha elections, his wife Manyata will be the Samajwadi Party candidate in his place, on Saturday, Jan 10.

"If Sanjay Dutt is unable to contest the polls, we will request the Dutt family to allow (his wife) Manyata to fight from Lucknow," Amar Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

However, the actor has a number of criminal cases pending against him and may not be qualified to contest. Senior Congress politicians and family friends of the Dutts refused to comment on the possibility of Manyata being fielded. However, a family insider said the news
was 'not surprising'.

It was apparently discussed in an informal chat when senior SP leaders met the Dutts in 2008.
