Hindu groups to stage protest at Obama's inauguration

New York, Jan.10 (ANI): Hindu groups from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia plan to stage a demonstration at Lafayette Park (in front of White House), in Washington D.C. under the banner of Coalition for Peace, during the inaugural ceremony of President Barack Obama, on January 20.

According to an Indian Post report, they intend to create awareness about the menace of terrorism.

In a press release, the groups said: "In this connection, we are working with some Jewish and Christian groups in New York and Washington D.C. We are getting a very encouraging response from them. Some of them have given us their undertaking that they would be glad to participate in this terrorism awareness campaign."

Narain Kataria of the Indian American Intellectual Forum said over two million people are expected to participate in the Inauguration celebration.

"We will carry banners urging/requesting President Barack Obama to declare Pakistan a terrorist state; stop Iran from making nuclear weapons; stop Saudi Arabia from funding terrorism; stop Pakistan's double game with USA; seize Saudi Arabian assets for crimes against humanity; stop repeat of Mumbai terror attack anywhere in the world; and that nuclear Pakistan is a threat to the whole world," Kataria added.

"Since radical Islam, political Islam, jihad and terrorism have assumed an alarmingly dangerous worldwide proportion, it is absolutely essential that the US, the only Super Power of the world, under the presidency of Barack Obama should take a lead in exterminating terrorism from the face of Earth. We believe that this could be an appropriate occasion for us to draw the attention of the media to the menace of radical Islamic terrorism," the release concluded. (ANI)
