Band behind song about Obama's Irish roots to perform at inauguration

Washington, January 10 (ANI): Barack Obama's presidential inauguration will be marked by a performance by a band who penned a hit song about the President-elect's Irish roots.

Having found out that Obama's ancestors were from County Offaly, London-based group the Corrigan Brothers came up with a song titled 'There's No One as Irish as Barack O'Bama'.

The song with the line "O'Leary, O'Reilly, O'Hare and O'Hara... there's no one as Irish as Barack O'Bama" became a hit on the Internet, earning over a million hits on YouTube.

The Corrigan Brothers have even bagged a record deal on the back of the song's success.

After appearing on TV shows across the world with the song, they have now been invited to perform at the day parade on the Irish-American float, and again in the evening at Obama's inauguration party on January 20.

"We heard that Obama's ancestors were from Moneygall via the local rector Canon Stephen Neill and it inspired us to come up with something about his link to Moneygall, just for the pure fun of it," Contactmusic quoted Ger Corrigan of the novelty hit as saying.

Obama recently confirmed his Irish roots, telling ITN: "There's a little village in Ireland where my great-great-great grandfather came from and I'm looking forward to going there and having a pint." (ANI)
