India turns to China to corner Pak

Yang Jeichi
New Delhi, Jan 3: Growing Indo-Pak tensions have drawn the attention of even Pakistan's ally, China. China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi is expected to visit New Delhi next week if India provides evidence of Pakistan's involvement in the Mumbai Terror Attacks.

Yang has plans of discussing about Indo-Pak tensions to External Affairs Minister, with an aim of defusing the situation. The Foreign Minister had spoken to Pranab Mukherjee over the phone last week and advised that both countries should hold talks to ease the situation.

Pranab Mukherjee speaking to Yang over phone said that India has a concrete evidence against the Pakistan's involvement in Mumbai attacks and he also urged Yang to pressurise Pakistan so that cross-border terrorism against India ends.

China had sent its Vice-Foreign Minister He Yafei to Pakistan last week soon after Yang spoke to his counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi besides Mukherjee. Yafei was told by Pakistani leaders that Islamabad is ready to carry out a joint investigation into the Mumbai attack and will take action against anyone found involved in the terrorist incident if New Delhi shared evidence.
