Four BNCT militants surrender in Agartala

Agartala, Nov 21: Four collaborators of the outlawed Bru National Council of Tripura (BNCT) surrendered before police in the remote Thalcherra area of Dhalai district on Thursday, Nov 21 night.

Police here on Friday, Nov 21 said the surrendered people were identified as Rungali Mohan Aslong (23), Rongada Aslong (27), Dharjamoni Aslong (23) and Muktijoy Tripura (27), who were involved in several insurgency activities in the district.

Tripura State Rifles jawans meanwhile, recovered a loaded countrymade gun from an abandoned jhum hut at Sachindrapara near Tripura-Mizoram border during search operation.

ARC to report on conflict management in NE

Agartala, Jul 27: The second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), constituted by UPA government, has asserted to submit a separate charter of recommendations on conflict management and insurgency in Northeast. Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, ARC chairman Veerappa Moily said besides, transparency and pro-people administration, the NE states needed a separate administrative strategy to combat insurgency. ''ARC has realised the need to decentralise power to autonomous bodies for the region's betterment,'' Mr Moily, also.....
