Bangalore: Government plans to construct Haj Bhavan

Bengaluru, Nov 17: An amount of Rs 2.25 crore has been allotted for the construction of Haj House at Hennur in the city, Minister for IT and BT Katta Subramanya Naidu announced on Sunday, Nov 16. The government is also waiving the land registration fee of Rs 25 lakh towards the same, he said.

He was addressing the Haj-bound pilgrims at Khuddus Saheb Idgah Maidan in Bangalore. The first batch of 280 Haj pilgrims will be leaving on Monday, Nov 17. Haj flights will be operational till December 2. This year 7,000 people, 16 of them children, will be making the pilgrimage from the State.

About 18,000 applications were received in the state this year. The quota allotted to Karnataka by the Haj Committee of India was 5,923.

Naidu wished all the pilgrims undertaking the journey and asked them to pray for the peace and stability of the state.

Former chief minister Dharam Singh and leader of the opposition Mallikarjun Kharge also attended the function.
