Mysore: DC's call to dismiss striking Doctors

Mysore, Nov 14: Dismiss the striking doctors demanding revision of salaries, Deputy Commissioner P Manivannan has told the District Health Officer. The striking doctors are appointed on contract and are not eligible for increase in salaries, he disclosed during a meeting held in Mysore Urban Development Authority office and chaired by District In-charge Minister Shobha Karandlaje.

He directed the District Health Officer to serve a notice to the doctors to report to duty immediately and dismiss them from service if they did not withdraw their stir. He also told the official to appoint new doctors on contract basis to serve in Government Hospitals, it is learnt.

The DHO was quoted as saying that the doctors were drawing Rs.25,000 as monthly salary and yet they were demanding higher salary. A total of 55 doctors, including 16 specialists and 5 dentists are working on contract with district, it is learnt.
