Congress ready to face polls at any time: Rosaiah

Hyderabad, Nov 14: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister and Congress Campaign Committee Chairman K Rosaiah on Friday, Nov 14said the Congress was ready to face elections at any time as the party had gained the confidence of the people.

Talking to mediapersons here, he claimed that the people had accepted the welfare and developmental schemes initiated by the Congress government during the last four-and-a-half year.

Mr Rosaiah claimed the people in the State were happy with the schemes and that the government was functioning with credibility.

Though the opposition parties in the State were trying to come under one roof to dislodge the Congress government, it would be difficult for them as each party had different ideologies, he added.

The minister said he could not understand which party was trying to join hands with which party. The Left parties, which was strong at one point of time in the country, had weakened and would not be able to contest elections on their own.

Regarding the creation of separate Telangana, he said the matter was pending before the high command and the party leaders would abide by the decision of AICC president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

He alleged that the opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP), keeping aside its united Andhra stand, had expressed its willingness for separate Telangana, in view of the coming elections in 2009.

The actor-politician and Praja Rajyam Party(PRP) founder-leader Chiranjeevi was making allegations against the Government on the irrigation projects without verifying the facts, he added.
