AIG's ex-CEO refuses $22 million severance payout

Washington, Sep 22: American International Group Inc's (AIG.N) former Chief Executive Robert Willumstad has rejected a $22 million severance payment, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the decision.

Willumstad e-mailed his successor, Edward Liddy, of his decision to forego the severance since he was not able to execute the restructuring plan he had developed, the paper said. The newspaper also reported major shareholders concerned about the government takeover were planning to meet on Monday to discuss alternatives to the federal bailout, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Japan freezes Iranian assets over nuclear plan

Tokyo, May 18: Japan decided today to freeze the assets of more Iranian individuals and institutions in line with United Nations sanctions aimed at persuading Tehran to stop nuclear enrichment, which could be used to make an atomic bomb. Fifteen Iranian individuals and 13 institutions designated by a UN resolution as being involved with Iran's nuclear programme will be added to a list of those whose assets have already been frozen, the government said......
