Noida, Sep 18: In a case of suspected honour killing near Delhi, a group of people on Thursday, Sep 18 allegedly bashed and killed a school boy and his girlfriend in Greater Noida. The 16-year-old boy, Sonu, and his girlfriend Rekha were reportedly dragged out of a public park and beaten to death.
It is learnt that both Sonu and Rekha belong to Scheduled Caste. Also girl belongs to a wealthy family and the boy is a school drop-out. The Cops said that the boy and the girl were having a love affair for some time and the killings were carried out by the girl's family with the knowledge and consent of the boy's family. The boy was beaten unconscious and later succumbed to his injuries while the girl was strangulated.
"The family took this step after finding them together. The boy was killed first and later an attempt was made to burn his body. The girl's family may be involved as house is locked after the murder. The incident happened at 1000 hrs IST on Thursday. We are trying to arrest those involved," RK Chaturvedi, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida, said.
Both of them were from a village called Bher which falls between Greater Noida and Bulandshahar. An FIR has been registered and the bodies are sent for post-mortem.
