''The feasibility studies are on about exporting to US but it will take some time,'' HMIL Managing Director H S Lheem told reporters here today.
''We have not made a final decision yet as we are still studying logistics costs and various technical issues,'' he added.
Higher oil prices and a slowdown in the US economy have prompted customers to search for smaller vehicles.
The i10, which is produced only in India, comes in versions of 1.1 and 1.2-litre engine.
There are also reports suggesting that the world's fifth largest automobile manufacturer is planning to export the i30, a larger hatchback made in South Korea, to the world's biggest auto market next year.
However, the company has no plans to bring in the i30 in India which comes in 1.6 and 2.0-litre varieties.
