Gujarat: IAF's MiG-29 crashes, pilot safe

Jamnagar, Sep 1: A MiG-29 aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Jamnagar on Monday, Sep 1 during a training sortie. The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Dheer ejected out safely. The aircraft had got airborne from Jamnagar air base and was on a routine training-flying mission. The crash took place at around 11:50 pm.An inquiry has been ordered to investigate the reasons for the accident.

This is the sixth IAF aircraft to crash this year. Five crashes involved a MiG-27, two MiG-21s, a Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer and a Kiran trainer have taken place this year. A pilot was killed in one of the crashes.

Jamnagar, Aug 8: Three persons drowned in an overflowing culvert at Aliaya-Bada village, about 17 km from here, today. The deceased have been identified as Haji Kasam Kesai, Imran Dawood Pathan and Harun Imam. Their bodies were sent to civil hospital here for post-mortem, police said. UNI.....

Guj Polls: 669 candidates in fray

Ahmedabad, Nov 27: As many as 669 candidates are in the fray out of a total nominations of 887 filed for the first phase poll to be held on December 11. AT least 218 nominations forms were withdrawn on Monday. Meanwhile 36 candidates from 11 Rajkot constituencies today withdrew their nominations on the last day of the withdrawal of papers. From Jamnagar 33 withdrew leaving 71 candidates in the fray to contest in eight constitutencies. In Rajkot there are now 84.....
