New Delhi, Aug 27 (UNI) Expressing concern over the non supply of the promised 400 MW power to Delhi by the Damodar Valley Corporation which was leading to shortage of power in the city, Power Minister A K Walia today said the Union Power Ministry has been requested to intervene in this regard.

Dr Walia today spoke to Union Power Secretary Anil Razdan to apprise him of the shortage of power in Delhi due to non-supply of power by the DVC, which may create a big problem in ensuing months of winter.

The Minister also apprised him about the difficulties being faced by the customers only because of the adamant attitude of the DVC which, he said, was also resulting in overdrawl of Power from the National Grid.

Dr Walia requested Union Power Secretary to frame strict measures to overcome frequent and habitual over drawing by various states.

This information was given at a high level weekly Power review meeting presided over by Dr Walia and attended by Secretary Power, CEOs of Discoms and Senior Officers of the Power Department, DTL and the IPGL.

Dr. Walia has directed Discoms to make suitable preparations to ensure supply during the winter months. He has asked them to chalk out an action plan which must envisage short term and long-term measures of uninterrupted power supply by realization of all power purchase agreements.

The Minister also reminded discoms to intensify their efforts of system upgradation. He also underlined the need for ensuring zero level breakdown, which would go a long way in enhancing the image of the power Department.

He has instructed Discoms to get ready to implement the *New Amnesty Scheme for voluntary declaration of category of use and connected load, which would remain open upto September 24 .

Dr Walia said the city government is committed to put an end to the harassment being faced by the consumers. Hence, it has decided to offer a new amnesty scheme which would bring consumers under the correct tariff category as per use, minimise unauthorised use of electricity and align sanctioned load with load actually being used.
