Travel agents, employees stage dharna over commision cut

Kozhikode, Aug 26 (UNI) Travel agents affiliated to International Air Transport Association (IATA) and hundreds of their employees in Malabar region today staged a dharna before the Air India office here in protest against the proposal to cut agency commission from November 1.

The dharna was inaugurated by Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samity President T Naseeruddin.

Addressing the garthering, the leaders said the move to discontinue five per cent agency commission would affect travel, tourism sectors and travel agencies, which employ about five lakh people in Kerala.

Airline companies headed by Air India had initially decided to cut the agency commission from October 1 but later deferred it to November 1 following request from the agents.

Simmering discontent over nomination of Sharma as BPCC president
