Training to combat suicide squad

Indore, Aug 26 (UNI) In a bid to train Border Security Force and other police personnel about tactics to combat terrorists' suicidal squad, an 11-week training camp is underway at BSF Institute here.

A total of 160 trainees from BSF, several central police organisations and Madhya Pradesh police were receiving training in the camp at local Bijasan Road.

Training was being imparted about counter insurgency, intelligence besides weapons used by the security forces, new arms included in BSF like AK series, Insas and miner tactics.

''At present criminal elements are laced with ultra-modern warfare hence to fight with them it is necessary to gain expertise in combating against anti social elements, emergency, dacoity and new tactics used by the suicidal squad and firing,'' said BSF Institute Deputy Inspector General Ramesh Singh while inaugurating the camp.

Business delegtaion meets PM

Guwahatu, Aug 26 (UNI) A business delegation called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Raj Bhawan here yesterday and apprised him regarding the challenges and potentials before the community of Northeast. All villages to have telephone by FY10

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) All villages in India will have public telephones by 2009-10, the government said here today. Having provided 54,700 of the 66,822 uncovered villages with public telephones under Bharat Nirman Programme, Communications Ministry said it has decided to launch another scheme to provide similar facility in 50,000 new villages, identified in Census 2001. These include villages with less than 100 population. It said Department of Telecom is preparing to sign agreements with state-owned.....

Viral disease outbreak in Karnal district

Karnal, Aug 26 (UNI) A viral-like disease blamed on poor sanitation conditions is plaguing this district which ironically has recommended 140-odd villages for Nirmal village award.
