Tata unveils first fully indigenous car "Indica Vista"

Kolkata, August 26 (UNI) Amidst the ongoing impasse over Tata Motors '' Nano" project at Singur, the automobile major today launched in the city the country's first and only fully indigenously manufactured car "Indica Vista" at price ranging from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4.90 lakh.

Available in seven colours, the 1.2L petrol Safire will cost the customer Rs 3.5 lakh, while 1.3L Quadrajet is priced at Rs 4.90 lakh.

'' The second generation Indica Vista showcases the progress Tata Motors has made over the last several years of its first outing in the passenger car business in design, quality, technology, performance and refinement. It is certainly a step-up from the existing Indica, '' Tata Motors, president (Passenger Cars) Rajiv Dube told media persons at a press conference here.

'' The company is greatly appreciative of the endorsement by the market of our first Indica offering and I am very hopeful that the Indica Vista will surpass its predecessor in appeal, '' Mr Dube observed.

He said the new car would be produced at the Fiat-Tata plant at Ranjangaon near Pune, which has an annual production capacity of two lakh units.

Mr Dubey informed that Indica Vista would replace seven out of the 14 variants of the existing Indica adding Tata Motors had invested Rs 1,700 crore over the last four years for developing the new car.

Army ensures smooth traffic along NH-1A in J

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Army has successfully maintained smooth vehicular traffic between Jammu region and valley, even during yesterday's 'bandh' and 'chakka jam' with over a thousand vehicles moving between the two regions. A total of 694 vehicles moved from Jammu to Srinagar, while 391 vehicles moved from Srinagar to Jammu, according to the Defence Ministry here. Most of the vehicles, over 75 per cent, comprised of trucks and oil tankers. Rest were light vehicles.....

Mr Mortaza told newspersons that West Bengal was the second largest potato producing state in the country next to Uttar Pradesh, adding the statel.....
