Talks to resolve Amarnath land row continuing satisfactorily: MHA

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Centre today said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was not out of control and there was satisfactory progress in the talks to resolve the Amarnath land row.

Denying that the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) had refused to participate in the talks, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said the Samiti was ready and participating in the talks. It only had some complaints of police brutality which were being investigated, he said. However, there was no conditions put forward by the SAYSS.

Asserting that there would not be any compromise on the soverignity and integrity of the country, Mr Jaiswal said anyone attacking the country would be given a befitting reply with full force.

Pointing out that the recent agitations and protests in Jammu as well as Kashmir would be resolved only through talks, he said the progress on the Kashmir talks was satisfactory.

Admitting that there were few incidents of firing from the crowd reportedly in Kashmir, Mr Jaiswal said yesterday at one place catridge of AK 47 was been found, indicating that the miscreants were trying to use the ongoing agitation for their own purpose.

He said the state government has initiated a probe into the matter.

NBCC present dividend cheque of Rs.55.97 crore to Jaipal Reddy

New Delhi, August 26 : National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) on Tuesday presented a dividend cheque of Rs.55.97 crore to Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy.
