Shahbaz remanded into 10-day police custody

Jaipur, Aug 26 (UNI) SIMI activist Shahbaz Hussain, arrested by the Rajathan and the Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow in connection with the May 13 Jaipur serial blasts, has been remanded in police custody till September 5.

Accused, a key player in the blasts, was today brought to Jaipur and produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Omi Purohit who remanded him in 10-day police custody.

Meanwhile, seven suspected SIMI activists who were picked up from Kota about a week ago for interrogation in connection with the blasts, have been remanded into police custody till September 7.

The seven accused Imran alias Raza, Najakat, Mehandi Hasan, Amanullah alias Aman, Dr Yunus, Taufiq and Dr Ishaq were formally arrested yesterday and were later produced before a local court.

Yeddyurappa to expand ministry tomorrow

Bangalore, Aug 26 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will expand his cabinet tomorrow by inducting former minister and JD(S) leader Umesh Katti, who recently joined BJP quitting his assembly seat under 'Operation Lotus.' Governor Rameshwar Thakur would administer the oath of secrecy to Mr Katti. The swearing-in ceremony would be held at 1600 hrs at Raj Bhavan, party sources said.
