Samsung India to felicitate Indian Olympic medallists

Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) Worldwide Olympic partner and sponsor of the Indian team to the Beijing Olympic Games 2008, Samsung India, will felicitate the Indian medal winners and celebrate the best ever Olympic performance of the Indian contingent.

As part of the Samsung 'Most Valued Performance' award announced by the Company prior to the departure of the Indian team to the Beijing Olympic Games, Samsung will be giving a cash reward of Rs 20 lakhs to Abhinav Bindra-the Gold Medal winner, and Rs 10 lakhs each to Sushil Kumar and Vijender Kumar-Bronze medal winners, at the Beijing Olympics.

New York, August 26 : Veteran actor Christopher Plummer has reveals in his upcoming autobiography 'In Spite of Myself' how he was once replaced by William Shatner to perform 'Henry V' when he was hit by a painful stone problem, following a one-night stand in a bar. He writes that he was to perform the role, which finally ended up making Shatner a star, the following day. "I woke up alone the next morning . . . (pain) all around.....

Star Wars tops 'Britain's Favourite Soundtracks' list

London, Aug 26 : 'Star Wars' has topped a new list of 'Britain's Favourite Soundtrack. Composed by John Williams, Star Wars has beaten 'The Mission' to earn the top spot in a joint poll run by Classic FM and Radio Times, reports the Telegraph. 'Lawrence of Arabia' came third, followed by 'Chariots of Fire' at fourth position and 'Dr Zhivago' at fifth. More than 30,000 people took part in the poll. Britain's Favourite Soundtrack are: 1. Kasabian guitarist's World War II grenade hell

London, Aug 26 : Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno has revealed how he had a near miss recently after a World War II grenade was discovered by builders in his back garden. The rocker said that the whole street surrounding his West London home was evacuated, when the unexploded wartime grenade was found. "All it could have taken was the vibrations from a kickabout in the garden or some loud music and we would have been blown to pieces in a pile.....
