Rs One lakh seized from Indian prisoner

Dubai, Aug 26 (UNI) Jail wardens in Kuwait were taken by surprise recently currency worth Rs one lakh was found in the possesion an Indian prisoner.

Police officials who seized the money from the prisoner lodged in Central Jail in Kuwait were questioning the inmate why he needed so much money in prison.

The Arab Times daily said the enterprising Indian claimed that he wanted to pay fellow Asian inmates to serve him throughout his jail term so that he could live life Kingsize behind the bars.

Washington, Aug 26 : A group of researchers has developed an anti-cancer drug based on Jasmonate, a synthetic compound derived from the jasmine plant. Prof. Eliezer Flescher of The Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University have developed an anti-cancer drug based on a decade of research into the commercial applications of the compound Jasmonate. Prof. Flescher began to research the compound about a decade ago, and with his recent development of the drug, his studies have now begun to bear meaningful.....

'Secondary' sex characters may be behind evolution of new species

Washington, August 26 : Two biologists at Indiana University Bloomington say that sometimes "secondary" sex characters - which improve a creature's chances of finding a mate - may also drive the reproductive separation of populations, and the evolution of new species. Armin Moczek and Harald Parzer came to this conclusion after examining males from four geographically separated populations of the horned beetle species Onthophagus taurus. The researchers say that the beetles have diverged significantly in the size of the male copulatory organ,.....
