Release Hurriyat leadership and give peace a chance: Mehaz chief

Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) Demanding immediate release of all Hurriyat Conference (HC) and other separatist leaders, Patron of the Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi(MeA) Mohammad Azam Inquilabi today criticised the authorities for imposing indefinite curfew in the valley.

In a statement here, he said to make the environment conducive for giving peace a chance, the Indian government must immediately release the HC leadership.

Strongly condemning the imposition of curfew in the valley, he said the Indian government has failed to kill the sentiments of Azadi (Freedom) among the common Kashmiris.

He said the curfew should not continue at the expense of ailing humanity who need immediate medical care. Due to the curfew, school children are being pushed towars a bleak future, he said.

Mr Azam accused the administration of adopting double standards in the two provinces -- Jammu and Kashmir. It clearly shows the communal bend of ''so called authorities'', Mr Azam alleged and appealed to people to continue the peaceful protests.

He said ''during recent massive rallies, the people of Kashmir have shown that we are non-violent, which is rooted deep into Sufiyat to the cult we belong.'' Mr Azam said a positive response that came from India regarding opening of Srinager-Muzzaffarabad road for trade can mitigate the sufferings of Kashmiris.

He, however said he was astonished that not a single statement had come from Pakistan in this context, which is supporting Kashmir freedom struggle ''diplomatically, morally and politically.'' They (Pakistan) should be prompt in reciprocrating to India, no matter road is not the ultimate solution to Kashmir imbroglio, he said.
