One more farmers commits suicide due to potato crop failure

Hassan, Karnataka, Aug 26 (UNI) A 55-year-old farmer committed suicide by consuming poison at Solagudu Village in Arakalagudu Taluk today as he was unable to repay the crop loan raised due to failure of potato crop in the recent rain havoc in the District.

Police said that Kenchegowda, who owns two acre of land, had taken Rs 70,000 crop loan from State Bank of Mysore and Rs One lakh from private money lenders. Since the potato crop was completely destroyed due to heavy rain he was unable to return the loan and opted for extreme step in the life.

Since last one week three farmers have committed suicide in the District due to failure of potato crop loss.
