One more farmers commits suicide due to potato crop failure

Hassan, Karnataka, Aug 26 (UNI) A 55-year-old farmer committed suicide by consuming poison at Solagudu Village in Arakalagudu Taluk today as he was unable to repay the crop loan raised due to failure of potato crop in the recent rain havoc in the District.

Police said that Kenchegowda, who owns two acre of land, had taken Rs 70,000 crop loan from State Bank of Mysore and Rs One lakh from private money lenders. Since the potato crop was completely destroyed due to heavy rain he was unable to return the loan and opted for extreme step in the life.

Since last one week three farmers have committed suicide in the District due to failure of potato crop loss.

Farmer murdered over land feud

Allahabad, Aug 26 (UNI) A farmer was today stabbed to death in Sarai Inayat area of the city. According to reports, Matadin Prajapati (40), a resident of Rithaiya village, was having an old rivalry with Lalchand over a peice of land. When he was going towards the city by crossing the Uradi Saray village, Lalchand stopped him in front his home and an altercation took place between them. Chennai, Aug 26 (UNI) The Anti-Narcotic Task Force has arrested three people and seized 500 gm heroin worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market from them.
