NSCN-IM cadre shot dead

Kohima, Aug 26 (UNI) Factional killing in the NSCN groups continued in Nagaland as one NSCN-IM cadre was shot dead by rivals on Railway Bazaar road yesterday.

Official sources said there was an exchange of gunfight between the groups in which a self-styled 2nd lieutenant was shot twice on his head and back.

Police later recovered two empty cases of AK-47, two empty cases of 9mm pistol and one empty case of 7.65 weapon from the spot.

After the gunfire, the shop keepers down their shutters, fearing retaliations and the situation may go worse, but no civilian injured in the gunfight.

Death toll rises by one in Kashmir

Official sources said one person, who was injured in security force firing, died in the SMHS hospital on Monday, Aug 25 night. No local newspaper hit the stand for the second day today

Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) All the local newspaper offices remained locked for the second day today due to indefinite curfew, while all the local television channels remained off the air for the third day today. Meanwhile, a number of media organisations, political parties and social organisations have strongly condemned the attack on media persons by the CRPF yesterday in which more than six journalists and photo journalists were injured. The local newspaper did not hit the stand.....

Acute shortage of essentials in Kashmir valley

Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) The Kashmir valley is facing acute shortage of essential commodities due to indefinite curfew for the past three days. People from different areas complained about the shortage of essentials, particularly milk for kids. They said due to curfew they could not move out of their houses to bring milk for their children. ''We could not store milk, bread, vegetables and other essentials due to sudden imposition of curfew,'' morning the people said. However,.....
