National Conference on IFRS at New Delhi on Sept 5-6

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) A two-day National Conference on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be held here on September 5-6.

Continuing Professional Education Committee and Northern India Regional Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is organising this conference, an official statement said here today.

Before this conference, ICAI will also organise a two-day Workshop on IFRS at Baroda in Gujarat on August 29 and 30.

The programme, being handled by the Committee for Members in Industry of ICAI, is intended to give an overview of application of IFRS in Indian scenario.

The programme focuses more on concepts that are relatively new under Indian GAAP and on topics which by and large potentially impact the net worth and profit or loss under more common situations.

Nationally renowned experts having in-depth knowledge, experience and expertise about the IFRS will be addressing the programme.

Considering the fact that a lot of challenges are faced during the first time implementation, a special session will be dedicated to sharing implementation experiences by various consultants and users both large and small.

Soldier killed, another injured in north Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) A soldier was killed and another was injured in a militant attack in north Kashmir, official sources said today. They said a security force petrol party was attacked by the militants at Waziran general area of Gogaldor Trehgam in the frontier district of Kupwara in which Lance Naik Lakhi Ram Basumatry was killed and a soldier Lianhming Thanga was injured. LS Panel recommends BJP MP's expulsion in trafficking case

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha, probing into the human trafficking case involving BJP MP Babubhai Katara, has decided unanimously to recommend his expulsion from Parliament, informed sources said today. Mr Katara, who was arrested in April 2007 while attempting to smuggle out a woman and his son as family members using his diplomatic passport, was served notices to appear before the panel at least three to four times after.....

Pondy CM calls on Lt Gov

Puducherry, Aug 26 (UNI) Chief Minister N Rangasamy today called on Lt Governor Govind Singh Gurjar at the Rajnivas here. Both of them were closetted for about 20 minutes. Later, Mr Rangasamy told newspersons he discussed administrative matters with the Lt Governor and there was no political significance in his visit.
