NASSCOM conference on ''IT-BPO destination Lucknow'' on Aug 30

Lucknow, Aug 26 (UNI) In order to project Lucknow as the IT-BPO hub -- a second destination in Uttar Pradesh after Noida -- a high level conference would be held here on August 30 to showcase before the IT executives what the city can offer them in comparison to other two-tier cities of the country.

The conference 'IT-BPO Destination Lucknow' will be organised by NASSCOM and several immenint IT personalities of leading companies, including TCS, HCL, IBM, ANSALs, AT Kearney, Xansa, Sahara Next, would interact with senior state government officials over making the state capital as an IT hub. State chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta would be the chief guest of the conference. NASSCOM chairman Ganesh Natarajan will deliver the keynote address, while its president Som Mittal would give the theme address.

IT-BPO Destination Lucknow, organising committee chairman Jayant Krishna here today said the ''City of Nawabs'' has enough potential to become an IT hub and after Noida, Lucknow should be the only destination in the state to develop it as a new center for IT.

Claiming that Lucknow has all the required facilities for the IT hub in the country, he said the city is an emerging Metro and already known as an academic, and science and technolgy hub for several engineering colleges and over 25 government research institutes.

Mr Krishna, principal consultant of TCS, said as per the recent Datauest IDC survey, Lucknow ranked high among the 10 alternate IT locations in the country along with cities like Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, Nagpur, Coimbatore, Jaipur and Indore.

He further claimed that Lucknow was known for its rich heritage and cultural equity and the city was on move to provide a quality life to the people which included international airport, several malls and multiplexes and other entertainment facilities.

The city is already know for its rich Mugal cuisine and an old intellectual hub.

As per the statistics, IT professionals from the state have a share of 10 to 12 percent in the country's total two million IT professionals and surprising the engineering colleges in Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad and Varanasi have already given 75,000 engineers in the IT-BPO sector of the country.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha to set up speciality hospital

Mysore, Aug 26 (UNI) JSS Mahavidyapeetha, one of the premier education institutions in the state, would take up expansion of its present hospital in the city to provide super specialty facility at a cost of Rs 200 crore. Tension in Patamundai; prohibitory orders imposed

Kendrapada, Aug 26(UNI) Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC was promulgated in the entire Patamundai town following the VHP activists and members of a minority community clashed in Deobanda village during yesterday's dawn-to-dusk bandh.
