New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Taking serious note of killing of two Bajrang Dal activists while they were allegedly making bombs, the Home Ministry has written to the Uttar Pradesh government to recommend a CBI inquiry into the incident to reveal the real purpose and widespread conspiracy behind it.
Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal has written a letter to UP Chief Minister Mayawati that since the blasts were very powerful killing both Rajiv Mishra and Bhupendra Singh Chopra and seven more bombs were found, she must recommend a CBI inquiry.
Prima facie both those killed belonged to far-rightist organisation (Bajrang Dal), it was not clear for what purpose they were making bombs, he said and added that it appeared that they may have been trying to trigger blasts at crowded places to disrupt communal harmony.
''Though the state government is investigating the matter, CBI being a more effective and bigger organisation could investigate the matter more properly in detail and find out its connections with other blasts which happened in the last few months,'' Mr Jaiswal said.
He said the probe by the national agency was more necessary as the blasts may have connections with inter-state gangs indulging in destabilising the country.
Asked whether the government was planning to ban the Bajrang Dal, Mr Jaiswal said any decision to ban any organisation was done only on the recommendations of the state governments and proof provided by them. He said connection of Bajrang Dal with these blasts were a matter of serious concern for the government as it indicated that they were involved in creating unrest in the country.
Regarding the government's failure to stop SIMI sleeper cells in various states despite a ban being imposed on the organisation, the Minister said the centre's stand was clear from its affidavit in the Supreme Court for banning SIMI. However, law and order maintaining was the role of the state government, he pointed out.
About the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Samajwadi Party openly defending SIMI, Mr Jaiswal said they were the supporting parties and the Congress or UPA could not dictate terms to them nor the latter could do it to the government.
About the Samajwadi Party defence of the Ahmadabad blast accused and SIMI activist Abu Bashar, the Minister gave a similar defence that his government could not dictate another party.
