LS Speaker assures India's assistance for Bhutan's development

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has praised Bhutan's smooth and orderly transition to democracy, saying it reflects Bhutanese King's vision and democratic credentials.

Talking to a Bhutanese delegation led by National Assembly Speaker Lyongpo Jigme Tshultim, which visited him last evening, Mr Chatterjee described the Indo-Bhutanese relationship as unshakeable. "Bhutan shares not only physical proximity with India but also proximity by heart," he said, while assuring all cooperation from India for developmental of Bhutan.

Mr Chatterjee apprised them some of the initiatives taken by him in bringing Parliament closer to people which included Lok Sabha TV, Parliament Museum, parliamentary committees, Parliamentary foras, lecture series and children's corner.

Mr Jigme Tshultim lauded India's continued support and assistance for the development of Bhutan.

MHA asks UP govt to recommend CBI probe in Kanpur blast

Inflammable material caused fire in Goutami Express; official

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Railways today said the August 1 fire incident in Goutami Express in Andhra Pradesh was caused by " some highly inflammable substance." Thirty one passengers had perished and nine were wounded when a sleeper coach of Secunderabad-Kakinada Goutami Express caught fire between Kesamudram-Talapusapalli stations. Historical monument collapses, kills 2

Bijapur, Karnataka, Aug 26 (UNI) Following heavy rainfall that lashed the city last night, the 500-year-old 'Ambarkhana,' a historical monument, collapsed killing two persons. Police said Ashok Sidramappa Dhotaragavi (42) and his daughter Sudha (14) were killed when huge stones from the monument came rolling down. They were fast asleep in their tin shed next to the structure. Assistant Commissioner Y S Patil and Tahasildar S S Nagathan visited the spot early this morning to take.....
