Kaizen Leisure announces strategic tie-ups with travel groups

Kolkata, Aug 26 (UNI) Kaizen Leisure and Holidays Limited, an associate company of Peerless group, today announced strategic tie-ups with a number of traveller service providers in the presence of West Bengal Tourism Minister Manab Mukherjee.

Addressing a press conference here, Jayanta Roy, Director, Peerless General Finance and Kaizen Leisure, formally announced exclusive tie-up with Emergency Rescue Card (ERC), providing emergency help to the passengers.

''The main focus of this service is to transfer the customer to a better medical facility in case of any danger or emergency that might occur while travelling,'' he informed.

The company also entered into a partnership with Budget Rent, an associate of Car Systems Inc, the owner of one of the world's best known car rental.

''Through this tie-up we offer our customers self and chauffeur driven cars, customised solutions for corporate and individual customers needing cars for six months or more,'' Mr Roy said.

He further announced joint venture with Make My Trip, an online travel service in the country through which the company enters into online travel service, providing opportunity of instant travel booking for leisure, to the customers.

''We have also joined hands with Iffco Tokio General Insurence (ITGI) by incorporating a travel protector policy for overseas travellers providing protection against travel related risks,'' Mr Roy added.

Speaking on the occassion, Mr Mukherjee reiterated the commitment of West Bengal government to promote travel and tourism in the state indicating scope for public-private partnership.

''Maruti-Suzuki venture changed the fate of Gurgaon, Infosys and Wipro developed the infrasturcture in Bangaluru, West Bengal too needs genuine partnership to develop the infrastructure in the state,'' the minister added.

All villages to have telephone by FY10

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) All villages in India will have public telephones by 2009-10, the government said here today. Having provided 54,700 of the 66,822 uncovered villages with public telephones under Bharat Nirman Programme, Communications Ministry said it has decided to launch another scheme to provide similar facility in 50,000 new villages, identified in Census 2001. These include villages with less than 100 population. It said Department of Telecom is preparing to sign agreements with state-owned.....

Viral disease outbreak in Karnal district

Karnal, Aug 26 (UNI) A viral-like disease blamed on poor sanitation conditions is plaguing this district which ironically has recommended 140-odd villages for Nirmal village award. The Civil hospital here is being thronged by the patients despite claims of complete control on the ''mysterious disease'' by the district administration. HIV figure reaches 111 in Sikkim

Gangtok, Aug 26 (UNI) As many as 111 people in Sikkim have been reported to be HIV positive. According to records of the concerned agencies here today the number was 60 till September 2006. Apart from unprotected sex, rampant use of syringe by drug addicts was attributed as a major reason for the spread of HIV disease, sources added. State AIDS Control Society and Voluntary Health Organization of Sikkim (VHOS) are the two major agencies to prevent.....
