JSS Mahavidyapeetha to set up speciality hospital

Mysore, Aug 26 (UNI) JSS Mahavidyapeetha, one of the premier education institutions in the state, would take up expansion of its present hospital in the city to provide super specialty facility at a cost of Rs 200 crore.

Announcing this at the 93rd Jayanthi festival of Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt here, Executive Secretary of the Peetha B N Betkerur said the proposed hospital would have 1400 beds besides the facilities like modern cardiac care unit.

The project would be completed in 30 months, he said.

The present hospital building would be utilised for housing nursing college and hostel facilities for the Post Graduate students of its medical college, he said.

He also announced that the Mutt would expand its base in North Karnataka with opening of a centre in Dharwad in a 80-acre land.

Referring to recently established JSS University he said more colleges would be added to its fold. Now the university has a medical, dental, pharmacy and degree colleges in Mysore and Ooty in Tamil Nadu.

He said Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), one of the top engineering institutions in the country run by the Vidyapeetha had entered into a tie-up with Bosch-Rexruth for opening a knowledge centre for automation technologies.

The main focus of this centre would be to bridge the technological gap between the educational institutions and the industry. This would mainly facilitate the students of polytechnics, vocational institutions and engineering colleges.

SJCE had also signed an MoU with Pace in Action, which partners the institution for advancement of collaborative engineering education in the US for exchange programme of students. Under the programme both students and faculty from this college would train in hardware and software technology.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha runs more than 350 educational institutions from nursery to medical colleges.

Fake currency seized in Allahabad; 2 held

Allahabad, Aug 26 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the city police today nabbed two people with counterfeit currency worth Rs 4.33 lakh in Muthhiganj area.
