Haryana: Swasthya Bima Yojna extended to 4 more districts

Chandigarh, Aug 26 (UNI) The Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) has been extended to four more districts of Haryana--Mewat, Rohtak, Hisar and Ambala have come under the ambit of the scheme.

As a result, now the scheme will be running in eight districts of the state.

An MOU was signed in this regard between the Union Government and the state government today in the State Level workshop organised to create awareness among the implementing agencies about the scheme at Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) at Gurgaon.

Mr Anil Swarup, Director General of Labour Welfare on behalf of Union government and Mr N C Wadhwa Labour Commissioner on the behalf of Government of Haryana signed the MOU in the workshop.

Prior to this, the scheme was being implemented in Faridabad, Panipat, Bhiwani and Yamunanagar districts of the state for the last six months in the first phase.

Farmer commits suicide due to crop failure

Hassan, Karnataka, Aug 26 (UNI) A 55-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Solagudu village in Arakalagudu Taluk today, reportedly due to crop failure. Police said that Kenche Gowda, who owned two acres of land, had taken Rs 70,000 loan from State Bank of Mysore and Rs one lakh from private money lenders for raising potato crop. Notices issued against Kolhapur, Nagpur jail superintendents

Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) The City Civil Court today issued show cause notices against the superintendent of Kolhapur and Nagpur jails following their failure to produce Mumbai train blasts of 2006 accused and Arungabad Arms seizure accused before the Principal Session court as directed by the High Court. Principal Session Judge A Nalwade was supposed to record the statement on a complaint by the accused alleging that they were beaten up by the staff of Arthur.....
