Chandigarh, Aug 26 (UNI) The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (Hafed) has ventured into the markets of Southern states of the country and appointed a distributor for marketing its popular consumer brand of products in Bangalore.

Cooperative Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha said the first consignments of consumer products has already been dispatched.

Hafed's basmati rice, non basmati rice, Kachchi Ghani Mustard Oil, Refined Soyabean oil, refined cottonseed oil, branded sugar, desi wheat, organic wheat and organic desi wheat atta were already quite popular in the existing markets of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Bengal, Orissa and Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

With the introduction of its products in Bangalore, Hafed has started implementing its plans to cover the potential South Indian Market for marketing its products, especially basmati rice.

Mr Chatha said that the growing popularity of Hafed products could be seen from the fact that during the first four months of the current financial year from April to July, the sale of Hafed Consummer products has increased by more than 150 per cent in comparison to the same period of the previous year.

Hafed had recently started marketing of its organic products by introducing organic desi wheat which had been well accepted by the consumers. Hafed organic Kachchi Ghani mustard oil would be available to the consumer in Chandigarh and Delhi from the last week of this month only.

Apart from the domestic market, Hafed's basmati rice is being regularly exported to Australia. Due to its purity and quality more export enquiries were pouring in regularly, he added.
