Explosive material seized in UP

Kanpur, Aug 26 (UNI) The city police today recovered eight kilogram of explosive material from Kakadev area.

Besides the explosive material, two containers and some iron rods were seized from a gunny bag, Inspector General of Police (IG) S N Singh said.

Ths seizure was made near the house of Bhupendra Singh, who died in a blast at a hostel in Rajiv Nagar on Sunday, the IG added.

He said the recovered powder and other materials would be sent for forensic test.

Landslides hit life in Nagaland

Kohima, Aug 26 (UNI) Frequent landslides blocked the main roads to Tuensang and Kiophire in Nagaland for several months resulting in soaring of prices for want of transport. Congress candidate of the Pungro Kiphire Assembly constituency R L Akamba told UNI here today that the condition of the roads had become worst. '' The roads were also not repaired last year, '' Mr Akamba said. As a result, heavy trucks carrying essentials could not reach the districts.....

Dame Helen Mirren happy with uncensored Caligula release

London, Aug 26 : Hollywood actress Dame Helen Mirren is fine with the release of the uncensored DVD of her most controversial flick 'Caligula'. Mirren played Caligula's wife Caesonia, alongside actors Malcolm McDowell in the title role, Peter O'Toole and Sir John Gielgud in the 1979 flick about a roman emperor. Earlier, the uncut version of the film was censored because producer Bob Guccione, the publisher of Penthouse magazine, had added few sex scenes using penthouse models, as he felt the flick.....

Nationalists storm Thailand's state television station in bid to overturn government

London, Aug 26 : Nationalist protesters in Thailand have stormed its state television station and besieged ministries in an attempt to bring down the Government. The protestors, armed with pistols, knives and golf clubs, are being led by the People's Alliance for Democracy, which is a Rightwing front led by a group of retired generals and businessmen. In 2006, protests by the same group were used as a pretext by the military to step in and oust the former Prime Minister Thaksin.....
