Delhi Govt to take all measures to check Dengue: Shastri

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Concerned over the rising number of cases of dengue in Delhi, the state Government has instructed health department officers to issue chalans to the owners of buildings for non-compliance of anti-larval measures.

Talking to reporters after reviewing the vector borne diseases situation in Delhi with senior officers of Delhi Government, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the New Delhi Municipal Council, Delhi Minister for Health and Social Welfare Yoganand Shastri also instructed MCD and NDMC to specially check the construction sites and empty plots for mosquito breeding.

Dr Shastri also asked the Deputy health officer to involve RWAs and local communities in anti-dengue programmers. He also directed the MCD to provide more workforce and equipment to the affected zones like Najafgarh west zone, Karol Bagh and other parts of the capital.

He said this month 60 cases of dengue 139 cases of cholera and 22 malaria cases were reported.

Dr Shastri said sufficient platelets are available in hospital.

He said 34 hospitals in the capital are equipped to handle dengue cases and sufficient relevant drugs to deal with an outbreak.

The Minister said the State Government would ensure that there is a proper distribution of Chlorine tablets in each part of the capital. He said government agencies would start a special drive against the illegal water trolleys and sugarcane juice vendors in the capital.

He said the government would take all possible preventive measures so that mosquito breeding is controlled.
