CPI condemns attack on Christians in Orissa

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 26 (UNI) Kerala CPI Secretary Veliyam Bharghavan today condemned the attack against the Christian minorities in Orissa, allegedly by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other Sangh Parivar organisations.

In a statement here, he strongly ridiculed the attacks and said that the BJD-BJP government in Orissa miserably failed to protect the minorities and check the attacks against them.

Mr Bharghavan urged the Centre and the Orissa government to take necessary and effective measures to protect the life and assets of the Christians there and added that many women and children were still living in forests in fear.

He alleged, that this was not the first time that Sangh parivar organisations indulged in such attacks against the minorities in Orissa and added that similar attacks had taken place earlier also.

Jammu, August 26 : The Ministry of Defence on Tuesday released a press release stating that despite disturbed situation in Kashmir valley and Jammu regions of the State, the Army has ensured that the NH1A remains open to civilian vehicular traffic. Female naxal nabbed in MP

Bhopal, Aug 26 (UNI) A female naxal carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 was arrested today in a forest adjoining Balaghat district's Mate village, Police Headquarters sources said. Haryana to sell 24 lakh quintal seeds to farmers
