New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Controls and Switchgear Group Ltd today said it has acquired 50 per cent stake in Controls and Switchgear GEWISS India Pvt Ltd, held by its Joint Venture partner Gewiss SpA of Italy.

The company has acquired the stake along with the modular wiring devices, lighting and industrial electrical solutions division, it said in a statement.

''Our decision to take direct control of our lighting and wiring accessories division will enable us to deliver focused and customised solutions for the Indian market,'' company Chairman and Managing Director R N Khanna said.

C &S will integrate Controls and Switchgear GEWISS India Pvt Ltd with the company's existing operations in power management products, it added.

Gangsters gunned down in Bihar

Bagaha, Aug 26 (UNI) A dreaded gangster and one of his associates were killed in an encounter with police at Naurangia police station area in West Champaran district today. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamleshawar Paswan said acting on a tip-off, a team of Bihar police raided a hideout of the dacoits under the Naurangia police station. As the miscreants opened fire, the police retaliated in self-defence leading to the killing of Musafir Yadav and his associate.....

5 arrested for stealing telecom materials

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 26 (UNI)Police arrested five people for stealing telephone posts, and other materials from the telecom department at Thuvarangkurichi, near here last night. The arrested were identified as Krishnan (24) Govindaraj (22) , Chinnappan (30),Sankar (25) and Mookan Karuppaiah (28). All the five were moving suspiciously, at Thottiampatti village in auto, when the police intercepted them. During interrogation, they admitted that they were involved in stealing of telecom department's material for quite some time.....

Driver looted of car and other valuables

Nashik, Aug 26 (UNI) Unidentified persons looted a car driver of Rs 12,500 in cash and other valuables and decamped with the vehicle in Niphad taluka of the district late last night. According to police, as per the complaint lodged by Vinod kumar Mishra (32), a Mumbai resident, one Kulwinder Singh and two others booked his car for a tour of Shirdi, Shani Shinganapur and Aurangabad on August 23. After visiting these places, they came to hotel.....
