US consulate officer escapes unhurt in Peshawar firing



Islamabad, Aug 26 : A US woman diplomat reportedly escaped unhurt today in Peshawar, when unidentified assailants opened firing at her car while she was traveling in her official car to the consulate.

According to a TV report, the assailants opened fire at the car of US Consulate (Peshawar) Principal Officer Lynne Tracy, who was on the way to the consulate.

A passerby was injured in the firing and was taken to a nearby hospital, said the report.

The attackers fled after the attack, and no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, the US embassy in Islamabad has not yet confirmed the reports, added the report.
