Cong will not interfere in Haryana SGPC issue: Amarinder

Amritsar, Aug 26 (UNI) The Congress will not interefere with the ''purely religious'' demand of Sikhs for a separarte Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should also desist from politicising the issue, former chief minister Amarindar Singh said here today.

Seeking a separate body to manage their shrines was a ''religious matter'' of 13 lakh Sikhs in Haryana and they should be allowed to decide upon the matter, Capt Singh told mediapersons here stressing that Congress had no intention of getting involved in the matter.

''However, we would not ignore the sentiments of our voters and the party would always raise voice to protect their interests, '' said Capt Singh, who was interacting with the media after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple during his first visit to the holy city after being given the charge of poll campaign in Punjab by Congress High Command.

Advani to blow poll bugle in MP

Ujjain, MP, Aug 26 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial nominee L K Advani will blow the bugle for the Madhya Pradesh assembly hustings on August 28 during the launch of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's 'Janashirwad Yatra' here. Bharatiya Janata Party state President Narendra Singh Tomar today inspected the venue of Mr Advani's public meeting. Light to moderate rainfall in HP

Shimla, Aug 26 (UNI) After two days of clear weather, light to moderate rainfall today hit the hilly state. Dharamshala with 31.8 mm rainfall received maximum rainfall in the state and Shimla recorded 1.2 mm rainfall. Other parts of the state received traces of rain and the sky remained cloudy. The minimum and maximum temperatures of Shimla was recorded at 17.4 and 23.5 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 22.7 and 32.7 degrees celsius, Bhuntar 21.7 and.....

Haryana: Swasthya Bima Yojna extended to 4 more districts

Chandigarh, Aug 26 (UNI) The Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) has been extended to four more districts of Haryana--Mewat, Rohtak, Hisar and Ambala have come under the ambit of the scheme. As a result, now the scheme will be running in eight districts of the state.
