Bomb hoax creates panic at Jammu hospital

Jammu, Aug 26 (UNI) Police today launched a search operation in the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu after an anonymous call was received by the hospital authorities stating that a bomb was placed inside the complex, police sources here said.

''The hospital authorities received a call this evening about the presence of bomb inside the hospital, while panic gripped the hospital and patients along with attendants came out of the building, when the information spread like a wild fire,'' police sources told UNI.

Acting on a tip-off, police along with bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot and launched the search operation in the building. The search started at around 1730 hrs, SDPO West DySp R K Chalotra said.

''Each and every portion of the hospital building was searched by the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs squad, while the bomb hoax has created the panic among the visitors and the surrounding areas of the hospital but nothing has been found so far as searches are still continuing,'' police officer asserted.
