Bihar Governor Bhatia injured in road accident in amritsar

Amritsar, Aug 26 (UNI) Bihar Governor R L Bhatia today received minor head injury when his car banged into the pilot car near Ranjit Avenue on way to the airport.

The accident occured when the pilot car suddenly came to a halt after being hit by a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction, police sources said.

While Mr Bhatia received minor injury on his head, seven police personnel, travelling in the pilot car which was hit from both sides, were badly injured, they said.

All were rushed to a nearby private hospital from where Mr Bhatia was discharged after being given first aid.

He was taken to airport in another vehicle and left for Delhi.

The police personnel, including Inspector Gurjit Singh, SI Charanjit Singh, four constables and driver constable Kuldip Singh were admitted to the hospital. The condition of the driver was serious, the sources said.

Travel agents, employees stage dharna over commision cut

Kozhikode, Aug 26 (UNI) Travel agents affiliated to International Air Transport Association (IATA) and hundreds of their employees in Malabar region today staged a dharna before the Air India office here in protest against the proposal to cut agency commission from November 1. The dharna was inaugurated by Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samity President T Naseeruddin. Addressing the garthering, the leaders said the move to discontinue five per cent agency commission would affect travel, tourism sectors.....

HC admits appeal against Dalmiya

Kolkata, Aug 26 (UNI) A divisional bench of Calcutta High Court today admitted an appeal against PILCOM convenor Jagmohan Dalmiya alleging that he did not furnish return of the proceeds of the tournament before Income Tax department. Income Tax authorities moved the High Court after the Tax Tribunal rejected its petition against Dalmiya and ten players who participated in the tournament. The case comes before the Calcutta High Court as office of PILCOM was in the city......

Lift curfew: CPI(M) to J

Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) The Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) today demanded the Jammu and Kashmir Government to immediately lift the curfew restrictions in the Kashmir valley. In a statement, secretary of the CPI(M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, invited the attention of the State Government towards the sufferings of the people in general and the children, the sick, the old and the infirm, the daily wage earners in particular, due to the continuous round the clock.....
