Vocational training and higher study loans for SC/ST

Shimla, Aug 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Sarveen Chaudhry said here today that the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Corporation had taken steps like providing Training in Non-traditional Trades and Interest Free Study Loan for higher education to uplift the vulnerable and neglected sections of the society.

She said that the Government has come up with a proposal to impart training to educated unemployed youth belonging to SC and ST categories in the trades of Waiter and Cook in the Institute of Hotel Management, Kufri (Shimla).

She said that the training shall comprise of two components, Theory at IHM Kufri for four months and '' On Job Training'' in HPTDC hotels for two months.

She said that the training to SC/ST youth in these two courses would create a pool of trained manpower for hotel industry to draw upon especially during peak tourist season.

She said that on successful implementation of the proposed project, imparting training to educated unemployed youth in others trades of tourism sector like house keeping, videography, photography, tourist guides, travel agency, front office assistants, trekking tour operations and adventure tourism would also be considered.
