Two killed as tanker collides with car and catches fire

Mangalore, Aug 22 (UNI) Two people were killed when a tanker collided with a car and later caught fire near Beltangady about 70 km here today.

Police said the people staying in the proximity were asked to leave.

Fire tenders rushed from the city and battled for more than six hours. However, no loss of life or property was reported so far.

The entire area had been cordoned off.

The accident occurred when the tanker was enroute to Bangalore from Mangalore, while the car was proceeding to Vittal from Bangalore.

The deceased were identified as Narasimha(35), Padmavati(65).

The injured were admitted to a hospital here, police added.

UP police sounds alert on Janamasthami

Lucknow, Aug 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has sounded a high alert particularly in Mathura and Vrindavan for the Janamasthami festival and directed the police to maintain strict vigil at all the religious places of the state. Street urchin rescued, sent to school

Kakinada, Aug 22 (UNI) Five college sudents rescued a orphan boy and handed him over to the police from a railway station in this district of Andhra Pradesh. Police said the ten-year-old boy Gooada Pavan Kalyan's parents died at Bhadrachalam when he was a child and since then was begging for his survival. The boy was handed over to the 'Child Line Project yesterday. The Project Director G Satyanarayana has admitted him today in the Bridge.....
