Tripura civil force man kills himself after shooting his colleague

Agartala, Aug 22 (UNI) A Special Police Officer (SPO) was allegedly shot himself after shooting his colleague in West Tripura yesterday following a dispute over a mobile phone set.

Police said Arun Datta (22) of Hazaripara under Kalaynpur police station had shot dead his colleague Subrata Sukladas (21), who was accusing of stealing a mobile set before turning the gun on himself.

According to report, Subrata lost his set two days ago and had been suspecting fellow officer Arun, of having stolen it.

Yesterday Subrata again confronted Arun and asked him about the phone and abused him. Angry by constant abusing Datta picked up his self-loading rifle and shot Sukladas from point blank range.

Before the other officers at the camp could react, Datta shot himself in the head and died instantly, said police.

In another incident last night a Bangladeshi intruder was shot dead in North Tripura in an encounter with BSF personnel when some Bangladeshi miscreants entered into Unakoti Range under Kailashahar PS with an elephant crossing the Indo-Bangladesh Border by cutting boundary fencing.

BSF officials said here today that following the intrusion bid BSF personnel had launched search in the area and miscreants suddenly fired on BSF and BSF personnel also fired back on retaliation.

After a brief gun battle, BSF recovered a bullet riddle dead body and an elephant, BSF added.

Jammu, Aug 22: Security forces rescued four people from the clutches of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HM) outfit in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here today said. ''Based on specific information, the troops of 11 RR and state police last night launched a search operation and raided a hideout in tehsil Chatroo area,'' official sources told UNI. Jawan among 2 killed in Jammu accident

Jammu, Aug 22 (UNI) An Army jawan, among two people, was killed in two different road accidents in Udhampur and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.
