Summit draws peace roadmap for Nagaland

Kohima, Aug 22 (UNI) The third ''Naga Peace Summit'', which concluded at Chiand Mai in Thailand yesterday, has adopted a ten-point ''Covenant of Common Hope'', a statement here today said.

The summit which began on August 17, was organised by the Forum of Naga Reconciliation and attended by the representatives of the Naga underground groups, frontal HoHos, church leaders and civil societies.

In a joint statement by the representatives here today, the summit made an ''honest and sincere commitment before God in Christ and fellow Nagas to strengthen the ongoing process of Naga reconciliation, unity and peace in the spirit of forgiveness and mutual acceptance.''.

Terming the ten-point ''Covenant of Common Hope'' as representing the values on which the Nagas strive to establish people's trust and accountability, the participants assured that this will be demonstrated through both substantive and symbolic non-violent actions to achieve Naga reconciliation, unity and peace.

Ratan Tata threatens to withdraw from Singur

Kolkata, Aug 22: Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata has threatened to pull out from Singur following agitation threat from Mamata Banerjee and farmers. ONGC to buy London-based Imperial Energy

London, Aug 22: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has raced into a lead in the bid to buy Imperial Energy, the 1.2billion pound London-based oil exploration and production company. The Indian Government has given approval to the investment arm of the oil company, ONGC Videsh Ltd., to go ahead with the full bid. The Indians have shrugged off challenges from China's Sinopec and KNOC of Korea, and are now in a position to close the deal as early as next week,.....

Prachanda to meet Hu Jintao

Kathmandu, Aug 22 : Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias 'Prachanda' will meet Chinese President Hu Jintao during his visit to Beijing. Prachanda is scheduled to leave for Beijing on Saturday to attend the Olympics closing ceremony. He will also meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
